Vw Touareg AC intermittently working

This one took a few visits to work out. I also did some steering work on this vehicle.

Ac was not working, then working then sometimes cutting out after 10mins driving an intermittent fault we call it.

This VW has 2 way climate control that you’ll need a PHD in physics to operate anyway.

I know the system has refrigerant and there is power to compressor at least sometimes.

No trouble codes stored

After a lot of head scratching I was able to view the data and luckily for me the diag platform I use has a data listing function and even has a listing for why the compressor isn’t kicking in

Reason on this one is “fresh air too cold”

I know the ambient air temp sensor is ok as the reading on the dash is ok-

So I dig in and have a look at the other various sensors and find one that is reading 2c - I suspect this is the fault and try to bypass this but the system must recognise that the circuit has been shorted.

I explain to the customer and get a sensor.

I fitted the sensor and viewed the data- sorted 👍🏼

Was just in time for the crazy heatwave too
